A common phenomenon in the later period of wire rope use is caused by fatigue and wear. Local broken wires may indicate that the equipment has mechanical defects. The principle of fatigue damage is that under the action of alternating stress, the surface of the steel wire first forms initial cracks due to various slips, and then the crack tip repeatedly deforms plastically under the action of shear stress to cause crack propagation and fracture. Fatigue-induced broken wire characteristics: generally, the fracture is flush, mostly appearing on the outer steel wire of the steel wire rope, and they are very regular. Good lubrication can enhance the fatigue resistance of the wire rope.

1)Where conditions permit, the diameter of the drum and pulley should be increased as much as possible.

2)When arranging the pulley layout, try to avoid the reverse bending of the wire rope, as shown in the figure below.

4) When checking the wire rope during use, it is found that the individual broken wire head should be bent left and right by the following methods to make the broken wire head stay at the bottom of the rope (do not use the method of cutting).
